Detox Me Tuesday Approved Diapers

I love this topic because there are so many options out there for diapers to make it easy. Below I will highlight a few key ingredients you are avoiding when you switch to safer diapers and my go to brands.

Most common diapers include:

  • synthetic fragrance - Due to the fragrance loophole, manufacturers do not have to disclose what makes up their fragrance. This can lead to 200 ingredients in just that one word on the label. This is where many toxic chemicals can sneak in. You have the right to know what you are using on your baby.

  • chlorine - Chlorine is used to make the diapers white, but sometimes dioxins (known carcinogens) can be released in the process.

  • phthalates - Phthalates are endocrine (hormone) disruptors than can add a heavy load to a littles body.

On top of chemicals, diapers can also add a ton of waste to our planet. Most of these brands don’t stop at creating safe diapers, but they are actively offsetting their carbon footprint and using sustainable options. For example, Coterie donates a portion of it’s proceeds to Diaper Recycle Technology and donates unused/returned diapers to Baby 2 Baby. Happy Little Camper uses sustainably sourced natural cotton.

What I love about each of these brands is that they actually disclose the ingredients in their diapers. Normally it is difficult to get a full list but of these brands provide full transparency.

Here are my top choices for safe diapers:
