Sodium Benzoate - Perservative used in foods and personal care products. When combined with vitamin C (ascorbic acid) it forms benzene which is known to be a carcinogen. It does not accumulate in the body. It is excreted via your urine in 24 hours. EWG rates it a 3.
Benzalkonium Chloride - Preservative and antimicrobial agent that may be linked to colonic inflammation and skin irritation. EWG rates a 5.
