How I Reset After Travel

How I Reset After Travel

Traveling during flu season, or really any season at all, can take a toll on our bodies. There are certain things I do when I get home from traveling that act as a reset to get my skin and body back on track. I do not do all of these things at once, but over the first couple of days.

For Your Skin/Body:

  • First things first, I love to treat my skin with the Overnight Resurfacing Peel by Beautycounter. This peel uses 16 botanically derived acids to resurface and then nourish by smoothing the skin. This targets pigmentation scarring, pores, fine lines, wrinkles and overall tone. This is my “get the airplane off” trick.

  • Do your full skincare routine and boost hydration! It is tempting to hop in bed after that long travel day, but the sooner you can replenish hydration in your skin the better. Airplanes have less than 20% humidity in the air which dries out the skin and other sensitive areas. Taking time to cleanse, prep, treat and protect the skin will go a long way. (Take this skincare quiz HERE to learn more about your daily skin concerns.) My favorite boosters to treat hydration in the skin are this Counter+ No. 2 Plumping Facial Oil and Lotus Glow Cleansing Balm.

  • The dry air on planes always makes my lips chapped. I love to come home and exfoliate with a lip scrub. This Pout Perfector Lip Care Set is the perfect trio to moisturize your lips.

  • After doing a peel on the first night I do a detoxifying mask the second night. I love this Charcoal Mask because it detoxifies and leaves skin super smooth! Want both of these steps in one purchase, try this Counter+ Skincare Favorites for savings!

  • Take a shower!! I know that sounds so basic but the sooner you can wash off all those travel germs the betters. You will sleep better too! I love to add in some dry brushing before the shower to reinvigorate the lymphatic system and boost the bodies detoxification process. Read more on that HERE. Follow with a body oil after the shower your whole body will be ready to plop into bed.

For Your Insides:

  • Hydration, hydration, hydration! Water is everything after travel to keep things moving in your body. I love to add Ultima Replenisher to replenish electrolytes, minerals and boost hydration. (It also has zero added sugars!)

  • Wishgarden herbs has some of my favorite tinctures and I love this Kick-Ass Immune Activator to make sure I am helping my body fight any illnesses. (I usually travel with this too.)

  • Another thing I travel with and take after I get home is the bye, bye bloat digestive enzyme by Love Wellness. Perfect to combat bloat after those fun travel meals and make sure you are getting the best nutrients out of your current healthy meals.

This is obvious, but I am telling myself this too: unpack as soon as possible. This always helps me jump back into life after travel.
